Default Windows Firewalling

Windows Firewalling

Step #1: Start off by going to "Start" on your desktop (it's green, lol). Once the go up and click on your "Control Panel" this is just the basic area where you can change and edit alot of the stuff on your computer. Once you have the "Control Panel" open there should be about 15-25 icons of stuff and places to be edited on your computer, these are called icon acess point's. Go down to the bottom, and then there should be a logo reading "Windows Firewall", click it. It should look something like this. Make sure you turn the firewall to the on circle. Now click on the tab reading "Exceptions"

Step #2: Now once in exceptions there should be a bunch of files and applications. First off you need to un-check the things which you want to be firewalled, because this is the exceptions. Now there should be an option reading "Add Program", click this option and now 30-60 programs will come up, this part get's tricky because you dont want to firewall programs that should'nt be firewalled. Add all the programs you don't want to be firewalled to your list, meaning the won't be blocked or scanned for virus' before you open them.

Step #3: Now once you have choosen what you want firewalled and what not it's gets a little harder. You will click on the name of your login details, mine is Joe. Now you will want to edit the settings on your user accout. Now you will come to a new screen called "Advanced Settings", do not click anything I don't tell you to click, this will mess up your computer beyond beleif. Now move to the ICMP tab, ICMP means Internet Control Message Protocal. This allows computer to share error and staus information, but they have to be on the same network. Now your going to click the option "Allow incoming router request", this will speed up your internet and allow your router requests to proceed. Also this will help "Beef" up your firewalls status. It will respond to requests for information about the routes it recognizes.

Step #4: Now turn your firewall on and make sure all the settings are on. If you want to add more settings you can add "Allow redirect" which will allow data sent from this computer to be rerouted if the default path changes. This is an important phase, helps blocking of virus' and controls imputs and outputs on your computer.
