DOS Attack Protection.

Hello,

We've installed a script which will run every minute, and ban IPs that have X amount of connections to the server.

Warning: Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that legitimate connections will not be banned in error. If this happens to you, we require you to email us with the following information (email: rsforums.support@gmail.com *);

• Full Name
• Email Address**
• Internet Service Provider (ISP)
• IP Address (can be obtained from http://www.wimi.com )

* It's a @gmail.com address because if your banned from the server you won't be able to send emails to @rsforums.org addresses. We suggest you note this email address down NOW, in case you do get banned in error.

** You will be cleared faster, if you provide us with an email address assigned by your ISP instead of free email addresses like @hotmail.com, @gmail.com, etc.

We're now focusing our efforts to locate exactly where the attacks are coming from, and take action accordingly.

Guidelines;

• Please avoid having two different instances of http://www.rsforums.org running at one time.

Of course, this is most probably just temporary. But has to be done, until we locate where the attacks are coming from and take action so it doesn't happen again.

Hope this doesn't last long. So im guessing I shouldn't have the arcade open and be browsing the forums at the same time for a bit.

Yeah, I'm sorry I had to do this. I really didn't want to. Hopefully it won't be long. I honestly have no idea why somebody would want to attack us. However, we will eventually locate the cause and contact the necessaries authorities or contact their ISP to make sure this doesn't happen again.

Darn, I usually have like 10-20 threads open from the new posts section. That's what I always do and is what I'm doing now. :cry:
