Default Dying rose

This one was more just for practice (Texture, lighting, etc)

I like it except for the border that says dying rose. Just the image would be OK.

Yeah, the border isn't that great. Also the texture on the centre rose is too hard, try to make a bit softer for blending.

Agree with the above posters.

Also Roses that are dieing turn brown instead of grey.

What you could have done is duplicated the rose image and added a dark orangey-brown photo filter, unless you want to keep the gray, then adding a grayscale would have done the trick. Once that's done, take a large softbrush, change the opacity to about 30% and carefully remove the parts you don't want. It gives a smoother transition and also leave it to the single rose. Not to mention it will remove those strange splotches.

That's exactly what I don't want. I don't really want it to smoothly fade out... I want to try make a... erm... 'spreading'(?) effect.
