Asking for rep=bad?

Well, it is inferring to trust related things. People, shouldn't ask for reputation, it should be harder to earn rather then saying, "Wow nice guide, +REP" Rep shouldn't be like this.

I don't think it's a problem as long as people aren't saying trading rep for accounts or give me rep and I'll give you a copy of my moneymaking guide.

Maybe thats why you got 19 Rep =o, But anyways, I will do a contest and the only thing that I really request is that if you like the contest and if you would like add me some rep, if not no big deal.

well, it depends on the value of the contest. if the contest is for 2k and you get 100 rep from it then thats not fair... if its a 1m+ contest then its a bit more fair to get rep from it. and guides do deserve rep since you take time to make the guide and help others.

Well, I don't think that reminding people that they CAN give you rep for things, begging for it is wrong though. Posting like "+rep is appreciated" at the end of your guide isn't really bad in my opinion, but posting "+rep for this" and things like that after a generic post you copy and pasted is a bit annoying/stupid.

Nate, Jansen, Stefan, and I give rep kind of sparingly. We don't want people to get hugely inflated rep etc. And we do generally only give it for pretty big things. Occasionally I'll give it to a new user with only 10 rep if they post a good guide or something, but that is mainly just to get them on their feet so to speak.

It's already a rule that you cannot ask for rep for free accounts

yeah i agree with matt, i think it's fine to remind people that rep is appreciated at the end of a guide or contest. However consistently asking for rep is definetly dumb.
