PS/2 ports dead
On my main computer, the PS/2 ports suddenly stopped working. If I move the jack on the back, the lights on the keyboard flash (all 3) and it doesn't work then, so it's apparently getting power. I tried using a different keyboard and mouse, but still the same problem. I don't have any USB mice to test it, but I do have a USB keyboard, and it works with that. A bit hard to use the computer with just a keyboard though, and I don't have a ride to wal-mart/fry's/bestbuy/ect. to get a new mouse, so I tried splicing one of my old mouses and making a passive USB mouse, but that didn't work. Anything else I should try to get the PS/2 port to work? It's not a driver issue since the keyboard doesn't even get power on startup. The ports are secure and I don't see anything noticablly wrong with the connection (soldering, ect.) on the motherboard, so I'm kinda stumped. Seems unusual for that kind of thing to happen...

That's my plan, but I don't really want to use the cheap Dell keyboard that my neighbor gave to me, and I don't have the money for a new keyboard and mouse. I still need to spend about $35 on 1gb (2x512) pc133 ram and a usb wireless adapter for the pc in my bedroom. I also want to set aside $10 for a hit of acid, but I can wait on that.

I tried that, but none of their solutions helped me. I have a feeling that me upping the rate on the PS/2 ports had something to do with it, but I didn't raise them up that high and never heard of that happening before.

Don't most tuts on how to do that tell you to do so at your own risk?
I mean, it is simple enough to do so you may not have even looked at a tut, but still. It's similar to overclocking a chip on the risk scale, no?

Doesn't overclocking usually kill through heat though? I don't think changing the mouse rate from 90hz to 110hz would make that much of a problem. And the problem started when my mouse and keyboard wern't being used, so the port should've been idle.

Over clocking can severely damage your computer if you do it wrong, so I suggest not.
Heat is a BIG factor when you over clock a computer. So if you have a crappy fan, don't even think about it.
